Reception
Welcome to Reception!
The Reception team at Buttsbury Infant School work together to ensure children are happy and settle quickly into school life.
Teachers and LSA’s are in constant contact with parents to offer support and to celebrate progress.
Our curriculum is specifically planned for Early Years Foundation Stage pupils and emphasises the importance of learning through play and first-hand experience, whilst taking regard of the whole child's development; intellectual, emotional, social, physical and aesthetic.
Through the teaching of the prime and specific areas of learning, we aim to provide a rich and varied environment which challenges and stimulates children's curiosity and imagination.
We aim to develop their independence and responsibility within a supportive and secure environment.
This includes emphasis on using the outdoor environment to promote learning and independence.
The Early Years curriculum is based on the 'Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage'
The document identifies seven areas of learning to be taught during the Reception Year.
Children in all classes have access to the outside learning environment, where teaching and learning is approached through fun and play based activities.
