Applying for Reception School Places

Applications for your child to attend Buttsbury Infant School during the normal admissions round are handled under a coordinated arrangement operated by the Local Authority (LA).

The procedure for handling late applications and the operation of the waiting list will also be in accordance with the coordinated admission arrangements. Please see below for our latest admissions policy.

Parents and carers in Essex can apply for their child's school place online using the Essex Online Admissions service. Applications for admission in the academic year commencing in September 2024 (or 2025 etc.) must be received by the date specified by the LA. This is usually 15th January each year. Offers are made on 16th April each year (or the next working day).

It is highly recommended that parents/carers put the priority admission area school as one of their options, otherwise there is a risk of being allocated a school outside of the preferred locality.  

After places have been allocated, parents/carers have a right to appeal.  The process for making any appeals can be found in the Essex Guide for Admissions.

Mid-Year Admissions

From 1st April 2022 mid-year applications for Buttsbury Infant School need to be made directly to the school using the form below.

Applying for Year 3 places

Parents of children in Year 2 of the infant school must make an application to transfer to junior school. Applications for admission in the academic year commencing in September 2024 (or 2025 etc.) must be received by the date specified by the LA. This is usually 15th January each year. Offers are made on 16th April each year (or the next working day).
