PE and sport premium

PE and Sports Premium

The Sports Premium funding amount schools receive is based upon the number of children of primary age in the school. The sports premium should be used to increase the quality & breadth of PE & Sport provision, and increase participation in PE & Sport.

On this page you will find details of how much funding we have received for this academic year and a full breakdown of how we’ve spent the funding or plan to spend the funding. You will also find details of the effect of the premium on pupils’ PE and sport participation and attainment and information about how we’ll make sure these improvements are sustainable for the longer term.

Sports Premium at Buttsbury Infant School

Buttsbury Infants’ School has a firm belief that high-quality physical education contributes to a range of outcomes for the children.  Not only does it equip them with physical literacy while supporting their physical development, movement skills and body confidence, but it also contributes to their physical, mental and emotional health and well-being.  We offer a high-quality PE programme taught by class teachers and external providers.  From our Reception year, all children participate in weekly gymnastic and games lessons which are further complimented with dance lessons. These lessons develop skills, competencies and confidence, which directly provide enhanced access to learning.  We help children to learn about themselves, the importance of a healthy lifestyle, self-expression and concepts such as fair play and respect.  We support all the children to achieve their sporting best in school and their personal best in life.  Teaching staff receive regular training to develop their expertise in teaching physical education. To complement our teaching, we also employ sports coaches to deliver high quality, progressive lessons and to support children to develop games and activities during free play at lunchtime.
